Civil Engineering Intern

The Water Civils Department in the SRK Johannesburg Office is offering a 12-month Internship to a successful candidate with a relevant degree / diploma and an interest in pursuing a career in Civil Engineering. SRK will offer remuneration commensurate with an Intern position.

We are seeking an energetic self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to perform well under pressure. The successful candidate will be based in Johannesburg and will provide support to SRK’s Principal and Senior consultants on a variety of projects. A willingness to travel is essential, as the successful candidate may be required to work on projects in diverse locations.

Experience and Skills:
The candidate must:

Have a relevant Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or similar;

  • Have an interest in civil, water and environmental engineering;
  • Have strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Work as a part of a team, providing support where it is required and demonstrating effective communication;
  • Be resourceful, with good initiative and the ability to work independently;
  • Be willing to work across disciplines and to develop a diverse skill set;
  • Possess good written and communication skills (in English);
  • Be able to approach and analyse complex engineering problems;
  • Be proficient at MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint;
  • Have a desire to learn and grow, and to quickly develop skills associated with the engineering field.

Applicants must be SA citizens and have a valid driver’s licence. Candidates based in Johannesburg will be given preference. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in SRK’s formal interview and recruitment process.
