Carol Koech
Carol is an energy and sustainability enthusiast who is passionate about energy access. A passion that rose from her upbringing in rural Kenya, where she experienced energy poverty firsthand and this made her develop interest in finding solutions to this challenge.
She is experienced business leader with over 18 years of experience having worked at KPMG, Unilever, General Electric (GE) and is currently the Country President for Schneider Electric in East Africa.
In this role, she is tasked with the responsibility of leading Schneider Electric’s growth vision in the region and driving alignment in strategy and process across its Building, Datacenter, Industry and Access to Energy business portfolio.
Prior to her appointment as the Country President, she worked as the Building and Access to Energy Director for East Africa, a role that allowed her to transform energy access for the communities as well as the building segment in East Africa.
Carol is a STEM Champion, Mentor and a strong advocate for Women living with Energy Poverty.
Carol joins the list of the 2022 & 2023 Break the ceiling touch the sky as Africa’s Most Inspirational Women in Leadership and has also been named as one of the Top 30 Influential women in Tech by CIO Africa in Nov 2020. She has won several awards including Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Trustee fund prize, Dr Eddah Gachukia Science Prize, David and Mary
Kiamba Memorial Prize and Safaricom Telecommunication A ward for Academic Excellence among others.
