Interview Spotlight: Mission 300

The following is a short interview with Mission 300’s CEO Andrew Herscowitz
How is M300 using innovation and entrepreneurship to drive youth job creation at scale?
Mission 300’s electrification plans are designed to help drive economic growth and create new jobs that will lift people and countries out of poverty. It’s not just about the new energy projects that will create jobs, but we have to focus on how that electrification will enable small businesses and new industries in Africa to grow.
What types of jobs does M300 believe youth will need in the next 10 years, and how are you preparing them today?
The growth of AI is without borders. As Africans increasing get electricity and internet access, there will be opportunities for today’s youth to create content at an accelerated rate from anywhere in the world. AI will be a tool and an engine for businesses to develop new ideas more quickly, for creative types — whether writers or musicians — to expand their skillset and share their works with global audiences. And of course, we will need people to build and manage this new infrastructure.
What is an inclusive, youth-powered energy future like, and how do we get there?
Mission 300’s electrification plans are designed to break down the barriers to participation in the global economy. Without electrification, individuals and businesses limit their ability to reach broader markets or to be competitive. Electrification is inclusivity.
What benefits does the Youth Energy Summit offer stakeholders seeking to recruit top emerging talent?
YES offers the opportunity for youth to be exposed to thousands of people working in the energy industry globally. It also gives those working in the industry to opportunity to meet some of the brightest minds on the continent. We’re very excited about the Youth Energy Summit.
